Motivation

We believe that students who are really engaged are most likely to learn, so we make sure that this is the case right from when they first enter the Smarty Ants Reading World.

Each student has their own Ant avatar (named after themselves) and gets to pick their own clothes, friends and a Dog to help them on their journey. They even select their backpack which allows them to collect the 2,500 learning awards they earn as they learn to read.

Story-building

Each time students build a story using the words they learn, that story is published as a virtual Storybook with a musical DVD to accompany it. Students collect all of their Storybooks and musical DVDs in their Reward Room, where they can access and share them with their virtual Ant Friends.

As they progress, the students build up to 69 books and musical DVDs, all stored in the Reward Room in their own personal Ant Home. During Reward Time, they can go back to their home with their Ant friends to listen to 477 phonics learning songs in the Disco room read their books and watch their musical DVDs.

Additionally, every time students complete a Storybook, they can print the story to collect, read at school, or read at home. Students become authors and love to read what they helped build!
